Following more than 32 years in the fire and rescue service Chris Blackburn has formed an independent fire risk management consultancy. Chris is the principal consultant and has a wealth of experience in this area, starting as a fire fighter before promotion to a senior level. He has first hand experience of the devastation that a fire can have on people, their families or business. As such, he is now using this knowledge to assist business with all their fire safety requirements.

He has been the senior officer with responsibility for business fire safety, health and safety and assurance of operational activities. He has expertise in fire investigation, accident investigation and has worked at a national level with the former Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA). This work involved developing policies, processes and guidance for enforcement of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Chris has been an inspecting and enforcing officer for business fire safety for over 20 years. He has developed fire safety strategies and fire safety standards in a wide range of simple and complex buildings. Chris has assisted in prosecutions due to fire safety problems and has given evidence in both Magistrates and Coroners Courts.

Chris has a Higher National Diploma in fire safety studies awarded by the University of Central Lancashire, is a Fellow of the Institution of Fire Engineers and a Member of the Institute of Leadership.
